How Can You Excel at IBPS PO Mains Exam

IBPS PO Mains

IBPS PO is one of the toughest banking exams in India. Millions of students and professionals apply for it every year with the hope of landing a job at a prestigious bank as a Probationary Officer. As you might know, the exam consists of two parts, namely, Prelims and Mains.

After you’ve cleared the Prelims stage, you’ll be asked to attend the Mains exam. However, you need to be thoroughly versed with the IBPS PO Mains syllabus, among other things. In this article, you’ll learn how to prepare for the Mains examination and excel at it.

IBPS PO Mains Syllabus

The first thing you need to master is the syllabus. It covers all the topics and subjects you’ll be getting questions from in the IBPS Mains exam.

You should also note that it’s completely different from the Prelims exam that you might have attended or are about to attend. Mains will focus more on your capability and smartness, while prelims are more calculation-based.

The syllabus for IBPS PO Mains consists of Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.

For the Reasoning category, you have subjects like logical reasoning, alphanumeric series, ranking, direction, alphabet test, data sufficiency, etc.

Similarly, quantitative aptitude and the English language have several sections of their own. For best results, you must be thoroughly acquainted with the syllabus.

Go through Previous Year’s Questions

Previous years’ question papers are a great way to brush up your skills for the next exam. By going over the papers, you’ll get a sense of what types of questions come in the exam, how they are rotated, and things along those lines.

You can practice IBPS question papers for the past 2-3 years. It will give you a hint about the pattern in which the questions come. At the same time, you’ll gain confidence for successfully cracking the upcoming examination.

Give Mock Tests

Another excellent way to get acquainted with the test is to give mock tests. These tests are designed to mimic the real-life examination. So you’ll have a good amount of time practicing real-life scenarios.

By going through the tests, you’d get a fair idea of where you need to improve and where you’re having trouble. Since the IBPS exams are time-constrained, you’d have to balance answers with time. You shouldn’t take much time to solve a particular question. And this is where most students fail. They attend far fewer questions and end up securing low marks.

You can attend both online and offline mock tests.

Create an Exam Strategy

The importance of strategy can be found in many areas of life, ranging from sports to business to daily life (your daily routine is a strategy as well).

The strategy involves planning and directions on how to go about things. By creating a strategy, you’d have plans on which sections to solve first. But without a strategy, you’d have a hard time picking the questions to answer. There will be too much randomness, which can cost you valuable minutes. So you need to develop a strategy for the IBPS PO Mains exam.

Last but not least, it’s all about practice. You need to practice day in and day out and get better. It would help if you were better than millions of aspirants to get a job as a PO. Be updated with the IBPS PO Mains Syllabus, which keeps changing from time to time, and practice accordingly.
